Budai Gourmet Festival – June 2012 Budapest

Budai Gourmet Festival will let you try some of the very best gourmet Hungarian specialties, like Hungarian palinka (the signature brandy of Hungarians), Hungarian wines of the noblest kinds, home made sausages, cheeses, fruit jams, pure acacia honey, cordials, and so on and so forth. There will be plenty of healthy foods, no need to worry about the stodgy dishes. Plus, if you are into football, you can enjoy the European Football Championship on big outdoor screens right at the festival in the landscaped gardens of Millenaris Park, the venue of the gourmet festival on the Buda side, in a nice relaxing picnic area.

You can try various Hungarian fish soups, and other traditional Hungarian meals and cakes of the best Budapest restaurants : e.g. the Michelin starred Costes Restaurant, WineKitchen Restaurant, Bock Bistro (Corinthia Grand Hotel), Restaurant 21 in the Buda Castle, Rosenstein Restaurant, Arany Kaviar (Russian Golden Caviar Restaurant), etc. In fact, there will be restaurants from all over Hungary, including Chateau Visz. You can also satisfy your cravings for desserts and sweet delicacies, e.g. one of the famous confectioneries of Budapest , Auguszt Confectionery of the Auguszt Family will showcase their wonderful cakes.

Budai Gourmet Festival will be from June 8 to June 10,  2012, at the contemporary cultural complex called Millenaris Park, and its big, slightly feng shui landscaped garden with dozens of tents and stalls by the artificial lake.

June 8, Friday – Budai Gourmet Festival

16.30 – 17.45: Agi Szaloki is a Hungarian folk singer, at the festival singing Portuguese Fado songs in Hungarian
18.15 – 19.30: Kesh Akusztik (Kesh Acoustic) is a Hungarian pop rock band, see a song here
20.00 – 21.30: DELADAP! world music, roma music, jazz (Vienna-based DJ, producer and musician Stani Vana and the stellar cast of musicians, many of them coming from neighbouring countries like Hungary or Serbia and sharing a historical connection with Austria´s capital that has lately developed into a vibrant and diverse cultural melting pot.)

June 9, Saturday – Budai Gourmet Festival

12.30 – 13.30: Szalonna and the Band playing authentic folk music in the Carpathian basin (the members of the band are also playing in the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble)
14:30 – 15.00: Candy Workshop by Cukorka – Sweetfabric – make your own candy (on Miele Stage)
15.00 – 16.00: Szilvia Bognar – concert for kids
15:15 – 15.45: Gerilla Latte Art Show – the extreme championship of coffee makers with Attila Molnar (4 time barista champion) (on Miele Stage)
16:00 – 16-45: Michelin Chef, Miguel Rocha Vieira (a Portuguese chef at Costes Restaurant Budapest – 1 Michelin star) will talk about his ‘Childhood Memories in the Kitchen’ Costes is currently one of the 2 Michelin starred restaurants in Hungary (on Miele Stage)
16.30 – 17.45: Tatrai Trend – Hungarian blues with Tibor Tatrai, the excellent blues guitarist
18.15 – 19.30: Kerekes Band – folksy music
20.00 – 21.30: Kiscsillag Akusztik (Little Star Acoustic) – see a song here.

June 10, Sunday – Budai Gourmet Festival

12.30 – 13.30: Kalman Balog and the Gypsy Cimbalom Band (playing on hammered dulcimer) Gypsy music
13:00 – 14.30: Pretzel Workshop for Children – with The Royal Order of the Hungarian Bakers (on Miele Stage)
15.00 – 16.00: Alma Band – children’s music
15:00 – 15.45: Organic Farming – Meinklang: Farming in Harmony with Nature – the Austrian farmers from Burgenland will talk about bio-farming (in English) – run by the Michlits family (who have Hungarian roots) (on Miele Stage)
16:00 – 17.00: Improvisations of a French Spice Master, Jean-Marc Notelet (F) will give a presentation in French
16.30 – 17.45: Eszter Vaczi Jazz Quartet
17:15 – 17.45: Macaron afternoon on Sunday
