Every Sunday morning, from 9 am to 2 pm, you can take a look at some authentic Hungarian home produce at Szimpla Kert bar, a huge maze-like bar with open air yards, and several rooms, which feel like an underground design student flat with artsy flea market furniture.
The hip bar is one of the top bars in Budapest, but by daytime, there are lots of workshops, clubs and on Sundays, a home produce market too.
If you like non-chain, home made jams, real fruits and vegetables from backyard vegetable patches and organic fruit trees, home cured bacon, smoked sausages, handmade soap bars, candles, etc. it is your place to seek out.
Venue: Szimpla Kert Bar, Budapest (the mother of the hip and trendy ‘ruin pubs’ / avantgarde bars)
Address: 14 Kazinczy Street, Budapest, District VII, in the old Jewish Quarter of Budapest
Date: every Sunday from 9 am to 2 pm
The Sunday Market at Szimpla Garden pub is more than a usual fair or Sunday market in a sense that there are entertainments to keep you (or your family and friends bored with shopping) entertained with live music, puppet shows, workshops for the kids. It is a real fun and a real local market, well worth a visit for its magyar feel and magyar home produce: there are about 45 sellers, and a thousand visitors a day, so it is very much unlike the main stream Central Market Hall in Budapest by the Liberty Bridge (Vasarcsarnok) where thousands of visitors buy from over a hundred professional sellers. Both markets have its own attractions.

Szimpla Kert Farmers Market (Budapest tourist video)
Szimpla Market is in District VII Budapest: bringing the capital and the countryside closer, taste the countryside flavours in Budapest, Hungary where you could even try dandelion cordial, honey with thyme, real homemade Hungarian pickles and fruit jams rich in organic fruits (plum, apricot, etc.). Hungarian farmers are helped to distribute their non-chain, organic bio produce and products by getting their market baskets on the delivery van ensured by Szimpla Kert itself (and the Hungarian agricultural associations and farmer communities and cooperatives working together with the bar)

In addition to the open air courtyard of Szimpla Kert, there are several indoor rooms where home producers set up their market stalls and sell their handmade or organically produced products. The Sunday Market is open in autumn and winter time too in the inner spaces of the bar.
