Opening Hours in Budapest

What are the Opening Hours of shops, restaurants, museums, etc. in Budapest Hungary?

Groceries

Most groceries, shops and stores in Budapest are open from 10 am to 6 pm except for shops in shopping malls, which tend to be open until 8 pm. But many groceries and food stores will usually be open from 6 or 7 am to cater for early birds on weekdays – most Hungarians start work at 8am or 9am and they may hop in for some food for breakfast or lunch.

Banks

Typically, banks in Budapest are open from 9am to 4-5pm (some banks are only open on Fridays until 2pm).

Restaurants

Restaurants in Budapest are usually open from 11am or noon to 10pm or up to midnight (or later, if there are many guests). The kitchen of restaurants do not close between lunch and dinner times so you can usually order meals late afternoon too.

Museums

Most museums in Budapest – like the Museum of Fine Arts and the House of Terror Museum – are on average open from 10am to 5pm from Tuesday to Sunday, i.e. they are closed on Mondays with a very few exceptions like the Jewish Museum Budapest.

In short, Budapest opening times are very similar to the opening times of other European cities.
