One of the recommended programmes on August 20 in Budapest is a Dinner with Free Drinks and Fireworks Show on Columbus Ship Restaurant Budapest anchored permanently on Vigado Square (between the Chain Bridge and the Elisabeth Bridge).Unlike the beautiful Fireworks Show Cruises in Budapest, the dinner on the standing ship of Columbus Restaurant and Pub is until midnight, and so is the free bar! In light of the length of the programme, the special event tickets are reasonable if you plan to celebrate this night until late night.

Tickets: HUF 26,900 / person (40% discount for children aged 3-12 years old)

Please note that the Fireworks is a loud event for pets and children.

The location for viewing the one hour Fireworks Show is excellent. If your ears are sensitive, and you cannot stand noisy events, the Fireworks Show is not for you, as during the Fireworks Show itself the night gets noisy as the rockets launch from the 4 locations (you can check the launching places on the Map of Fireworks Show Budapest)

Wow, Hungary couldn’t get more romantic than a Budapest Fireworks Cruise on the Danube, an absolutely outstanding August thing to do in Budapest. On August 20, the happiest national holiday of Budapest when the Magyars celebrate the birth of the Hungarian state and their constitution (among others), there are spectacular fireworks close to the Chain Bridge and all the fantastic UNESCO World Heritage sites, the Buda Royal Palace on the Castle Hill, the Hungarian Parliament building, etc.

August Fireworks Budapest Cruise

Hundreds of thousands of Hungarians crowd along the river Danube to watch the amazing fire works and the shows. • Dinner Cruise: the warm buffet style dinner offers plenty of food in a wide range (vegetarian foods included)
  • Live Music: the live music is provided by 3 members of the talented Gypsy musician band, the Rajko Folk Orchestra (including the violinist Zsigmond Vidak who is the owner of the Bronze Merit Cross of the Hungarian Republic). They will be playing salon music.

GOUBA Bazaar is like a pleasant free market in Budapest, which is well worth a visit for shopping handmade crafts, design items, and all kinds of tidbits you would expect to find at an eclectic bazaar, like the Portobello Market in Budapest – sort of a design fair mixed with a flea market with street performers added.

GOUBA Bazaar Budapest 2013

Every Sunday in spring, summer and autumn in 2013, Gouba Bazaar is open in the architecturally unique Gozsdu Courtyard spanning between Kiraly street and Dob street (has entrance from both streets in fact) in the old Jewish Quarters in Budapest. You can select a handful of design gifts, nice accessories, unique clothes, and more. Buskers, live music often accompany Gozsdu GOUBA Bazaar.

Gouba Gozsdu Bazaar - Flea Market and Design Fair in Budapest

Gouba Gozsdu Bazaar – Flea Market and Design Fair in Budapest

Opening hours at Gouba Gozsdu Bazaar:

10 am to 7 pm

The colourful ‘flea markets’ at Gozsdu are part of a series of Gozsdu GOUBA fairs running from late March till mid October in one of the most exciting part of the city of Budapest where further nearby Budapest attractions may also be of interest like the Dohany Street Great Synagogue, the Orthodox Synagogue in Rumbach Sebestyen street, the authentic Jewish Frohlich Confectionery (try their delicious flodni cake), or the cool and vibrant Szimpla Kert ruin pub, a hip and happy place for a cool night out in Budapest.

The Danube Carnival could also be called International Folk Dance Festival. It is a summer festival with a heavy folksy accent where folk dancers rule the stage. There are several venues (most events will be on Vorosmarty Square), each promising a nice cultural event with family activities, and anyone is very welcome to try their legs at Hungarian folk dances.

Danube Carnival 2013, Budapest

From June 14 to 23, 2013 not only can you see spectacular folk dance shows (many of which are free) of various ages and countries (Bulgarian, German, Greek, Gypsy, Romanian, Indian, Chinese, etc.), but you can also do some gift shopping on the Danube Carnival Fair on Vorosmarty Square.
To boot, each evening you can join the dancers and do some happy feet with the folksy crowds and the ensembles on Vorosmarty Square at the free Folk Dance House. When in Budapest, bath and dance, we say (OK, we have rephrased it a bit).

Here is the programme of Danube Carnival 2013 (the 18th folk dance festival). Most events will take place on the Vorosmarty Square (downtown Budapest). All events on Vorosmarty square are free of charge, no admission, no hassle, just enjoy. The other main venue is the Duna Palace, which is a 3 min walk from Vorosmarty Square.
